If you or your organization serve members of communities traditionally under-resourced in the humanities, and/or deeply isolated from the wider community, please tell us about how your work supports these communities. Underrepresented and isolated groups vary in each community. These groups can include people of color; people who identify as LGBTQ+; people who live in rural areas; people with disabilities; people who identify as immigrants or refugees; and people whose first (or only) language is not English. Keep in mind this is not an exhaustive list. If your or your organization's work has public impact, please tell us how.

About Your Project

Every year, we choose a few books to feature.  We gather extra resources and support extra programming around these books – and many people use them in their Discussion Projects.  You can find out more about these, and see a range of other texts that groups around the state have used to ground their discussions here: Books & Resources

As a part of each discussion project, MHC assigns an MHC-trained facilitator to each group and provides substantial support from MHC staff regarding planning, outreach, and implementation of the project.  If it is important for your group to have a facilitator from inside your community, or for you to facilitate the group yourself, please check the box below; you'll be prompted to let us know more.

If you plan to convene and facilitate a group yourself and don't need planning support from our staff – but you do need books – please use this link to apply for Books Only.

Additional Information

Discussion Project applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. In general, projects should not expect to start until at least 8 weeks after the date you submit your application.
